"In your presence is fullness of joy; in your right hand there are pleasures forever." (Psalm 16:11) We have such a great need today for joy. . . unexplainable, contagious, outrageous joy. When that kind of joy comes aboard our ship of life, it brings several other things with it -- like enthusiasm for life, determination not to give up, and a strong desire to be of encouragement to others. Such qualities make our voyage bearable when we hit the open water of the sea and experience high waves of hardship that tend to demoralize and paralyze us. There is not much that is better than a joyful attitude when we face the trials that life throws at us. When Mother Teresa was asked what the job description was for anyone working alongside her in the grimy streets and narrow alleys of Calcutta, without hesitation she replied with only two things: "the desire to work hard and a joyful attitude!"
